The Foundation of Quality

Preparation & Minor Repairs

Thorough preparation is the single most important factor in achieving a paint finish that looks beautiful and lasts. We never cut corners on preparation, because we know that the quality of the finished result depends on the care taken at every stage before the topcoat is applied.

Filling Cracks and Holes

Before any paint is applied, we carefully fill cracks, holes and imperfections in walls and ceilings. Using quality fillers suited to each surface, we build up and smooth every repair so that it blends seamlessly with the surrounding area. The result is walls that look as though they have never been damaged.

Sanding and Preparing Surfaces

Proper sanding creates the key that allows paint to bond to a surface. We sand walls, woodwork and previously painted surfaces to the appropriate grade, removing nibs, runs and rough areas to create a smooth, even base for the new finish.

Making Good Around Sockets and Fittings

The areas around light switches, sockets and other fittings are often neglected. We take care to fill, smooth and finish these small but visible areas, ensuring that every detail of your room looks clean and well finished.

Minor Plaster Repairs

Small areas of damaged or blown plaster can often be repaired as part of a decorating project, saving the need for a separate plasterer. We make minor plaster repairs using appropriate materials, creating a sound and smooth surface ready for decoration.

Preparing and Repainting Existing Woodwork

Existing painted woodwork needs thorough preparation before recoating. We clean, sand and key all surfaces, fill any dents or chips, and apply fresh coats of quality paint. The difference that well prepared woodwork makes to a finished room is remarkable.

Knot Treatment, Suitable Priming and Finishing

New or bare timber requires specific treatment before painting. We apply knotting solution to resinous areas, select the appropriate primer for the timber and surface, and build up the finish with careful coats. This process ensures a lasting, professional result that will not blister, peel or discolour.
